Centralia Police have made three felony drug arrests on Friday. Two came when an Illinois Department of Corrections Parole Agent arrived at the apartment of a parolee and heard what he thought was a drug transaction taking place. Once inside the apartment of 24-year-old Michael Thomas on West Broadway in downtown Centralia police allegedly found 2.6-grams of heroin, a tenth of a gram of cocaine, and a cannabis pipe in the trash can. Thomas was arrested for alleged possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of a controlled substance, and possession of drug paraphernalia. A second person in the apartment, 29-year-old Torrance Branch of Chicago, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
The third drug arrest came when Centralia Police went to the Laura Leake Park Pavilion to investigate a report of an on-going dice game and the sale of narcotics. Police report finding a bag of suspected crack cocaine on the ground under the feet of 19-year-old Odell Wright of Haussler Drive in Centralia. Once Wright was moved, police say they found three more bags of suspected narcotics and a baggie of heroin. Wright was arrested for alleged possession with intent to deliver cocaine and heroin as well as possession of cannabis. The nine others at the Pavilion at the time were not charged.
