• Brady Feldmann hit a 3 pointer with a minute to play to give Highland a one-point edge that they would hold on to knocking off previously unbeaten Centralia at Trout Arena on Saturday 47-46. Javon Williams led Centralia with 23 to go with 10 rebounds. Jordan Maines added 12.
  • The Salem Bowlers competed at the Herrin Tigers Invitational over the weekend. For the girls, Makayla Golden had a 233 high game and finished with a 1066 series. Kayla Smith added a 201 game and finished at 1018. The Lady Wildcats were 2nd overall.
  • The Salem girls basketball team is off tonight as they prepare for Thursday night’s road game at Carlyle. Salem has won 5 straight games and will take the Christmas Holiday off after Thursday before opening up play right after the break in the Mattoon Holiday Tournament.
  • The Salem 3rd Grade Bobcats improved to 10-3 on the season finishing 3rd at the Flora Tournament held at Oil Belt Camp.
  • The Salem 5th Grade Bobcats won a pair of games at South Central over the weekend. Salem opened with a 30-9 win with Logan Lockhart and Kolsyn Quinn scoring 6 each to lead Salem. Ryan Detering, Cole Casburn, Aden Bass and Parker Findley each scored 4 with Silas Moats added 2 points.

  • The Centralia Orphans have won their first 8 games of the season knocking off rival Mt Vernon at Trout Arena last night 45-31. The game was tied at 28-28 in the fourth quarter after Zach Williams hit a 3 for the Rams. Javon Williams Jr added 10 of his 18 points in the fourth quarter.
  • Damon Crosby scored 30 points and Salem won their first Cahokia Conference game, knocking off previously unbeaten and 6th ranked Trenton Wesclin 57-52 in overtime.
