Charles Roscoe Atteberry, 91, of Alma, IL died March 8, 2018 at the Highland Health Care Center in Highland, IL. Charles had worked in construction, and as a fruit picker in various Alma orchards . He was of the Baptist faith. He was a veteran of both W.W. II, and the Korean War, serving in the United States Navy.

Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M., Monday, at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem with Pastor Calvin Jean officiating. Burial will follow at the Summit Prairie Cemetery. Military honors will be accorded at the graveside by the American Legion Post #128 of Salem. Visiting hours will be from 11:00 a.m. Monday until the service hour. The family request memorials be made to Wounded Warriors and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home, entrusted with the families care.

He married Mary Ruth Hays, September 24, 1956 in Salem and she survives in Kinmundy. Also surviving are his children, Brian Atteberry of Patoka, and Margaret Spangler of Alma, along with granddaughters, Jennifer Nix and husband Joe of Salem, and Michele Spangler of Alma. He was also proud of his great grandchildren, Logan Nix and Joshua Spangler. Also left to mourn his passing is his brother, Harlis Atteberry of Salem.

Born September 1, 1926 in Iuka, he was the son of Clement Edgar and Ida (Michael) Atteberry. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Sam, Lee, Lewis and Ray Atteberry, and sisters Hazel Garrison, Mable Barrall, Edna Bryant, Alice Scott and Dorothy Palmer.
