LaVerne Isaac, 94, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 8:00 A.M. November 9, 2017 at her residence. LaVerne worked various jobs throughout her life, including the Mount Vernon Shoe Factory, Mount Vernon Garment Factory, Hollywood Candy Factory in Centralia, Illinois, and Hunt’s Restaurant in Mount Vernon. She was a member of Central Christian Church, as well as a 50 year member and past Matron of Mount Vernon Chapter 223 Order of Eastern Star. LaVerne was very creative and enjoyed quilting, sewing, and ceramics. She loved her yard and flowers, but most of all, LaVerne loved her family. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

LaVerne is survived by her daughters, Karen Talley and husband, Herb and Joyce Smith, both of Mount Vernon; grandchildren, Wayne Talley and wife, Tammy of Mount Vernon, Robert Talley of Mount Vernon, Jennifer Badgett and significant other, Jim Haakonson of Texas, and Tabetha Long and fiance, Eric Schultz of Shiloh, Illinois; ten great-grandchildren; eleven great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was born June 9, 1923 in Bluford, Illinois to the late Ralph and Lela (Williams) Braddy. LaVerne married Louray Isaac on September 2, 1940 in Henderson, Kentucky. They were blessed with 43 years of marriage before he preceded her in death on October 31, 1983. In addition to her parents and husband, LaVerne was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Ron Smith and siblings, Joyce Bullock, Merle Braddy, Ralph Braddy, Jr., and Marlin Braddy.
