With Robinson Cano firmly entrenched at second base, the team is expected to move the speedy Gordon to center field.

Gordon, 29, hit .308 last season with 60 stolen bases and 114 runs scored. He is owed $37 million over the next three years, as well as a $14 million option for the 2021 season. The Mariners are expected to take on that whole contract.

After missing 80 games of the 2016 season for a violation of MLB's performance enhancing drug policy, Gordon returned to action and hit an emotional home run in the first game after the death of Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez.

The Marlins are expected to receive two minor league prospects from Seattle in the trade. Miami will also send $1 million in international slot money, which the Mariners could use to entice Japanese pitcher Shohei Ohtani.
