Metallica's "Hardwired" Tops "Billboard" Mainstream Rock Songs Chart

Blackened RecordingsMetallica's new track, "Hardwired," has ascended to the top of Billboard's Mainstream Rock Songs chart, giving the band eight number-one singles on the tally.

Prior to "Hardwired," Metallica topped Mainstream Rock Songs with "Until It Sleeps" and "Hero of the Day" in 1996, "Turn the Page" in 1998, "No Leaf Clover" and "I Disappear" in 2000, "The Day That Never Comes" in 2008, and "Cyanide" in 2009.

"Hardwired" is the lead single from Metallica's forthcoming album, Self-Destruct, which will be released November 18.

In other charting news, Ghost has earned their first number-one album on Billboard's Top Rock Albums tally with their new EP, Popestar. The five-song collection, which features four covers and one new original called "Square Hammer," is the first EP to conquer Top Rock Albums since the chart launched in 2006.
