• The IHSA football quarterfinals were played. Red Hill lost to Athens 34-14. Anna Jonesboro traveled and beat Vandalia 56-41 to set up a semifinal at Pleasant Plains this weekend. Highland dominated Herscher 77-47 and will play at top-seed Rochester who eliminated Herrin 56-14. East St Louis fell to Chicago Mt Carmel 21-18. Edwardsville advances with a 28-25 win over Minooka. They will get Loyola Academy in Edwardsville this weekend.

  • Sandoval won the Christ Our Rock 7th grade tournament for the 2nd year in a row beating St Rose 21-14 in the championship. Makayla Day led the champs with 8 points. Sandoval's Carmen Wilderman won the free throw contest for the 2nd straight year with teammate Kailynn Kruep was 2nd. The Sandoval team won the three point championships for the 2nd straight year with the team of Kreup, Wilderman and Reheagan Rollinson.

  • The Selmaville Rockets 3rd grade team won the consolation championship at the Central City Tournament over the weekend. Selmaville beat Carlyle St Mary Blue in their final game. Kaeden Harrell led the Rockets with 6 points 3 rebounds and 2 assists. Wyatt McCarty added 5 steals. Brendan Smith also had 3 rebounds and 2 steals to go along with 2 points.
