The Salem Wildcats bounced back from a 10-0 lo9ss in the opener at Teutopolis on Saturday to earn a 5-3 win in the 2nd game of the twin bill.
Nate Roth had a single, double and 2 RBI, Brenden Boles doubled and added 2 more singles with an RBI, Garrett Murphy had 2 hits and Dakota Charlton and Levi Davis drove in a run each as Salem moved to 1-2.
Dalton Courtright tossed a four-hitter with 7 strikeouts in the victory. Salem will be in action on Wednesday at Rent One Park in Marion when they take on the Breese Central Cougars.
Also today, The Odin Eagles will play at Cisne and Sandoval is in action at home against Waltonville.
Dru Johnson hit a game tying two run homer in the top of the sixth and Noah Crocker hits a go ahead 2 run homer in the top of the 8th as Carlyle earned their first win of the season beating Flora 6-4 in game two of the double header. Flora scored 9 runs in the first inning and won the opener 14-3.
In other prep baseball action over the weekend; Wesclin swept Wood River 20-1 and 8-3 to improve to 2-1 on the season. Nashville fell to Rockford Lutheran 6-2 to run their record to 1-1. Rockford also defeated Okawville on the day 3-1. The North Clay Cardinals are still undefeated as they beat Olney 5-2 on the road this weekend.
The KC Blue Devils took both ends of their doubleheader versus Shawnee winning 16-6 and 5-4. Jared Timmermann went the distance in the opener on a five hitter and struck out five. Austin Buzick was the winning pitcher in the nightcap. Brock Mette had 3 hits and 2 doubles and drove in 2. KC is 8-8 on the season.
