The Christ Our Rock Silver Stallions are headed to the Elite 8 at the University of Illinois Springfield on Monday night following their Arcola Sectional title defeating Hume Shiloh 55-48. The Stallions improved to 26-5 and will take on Mendon Unity, who defeated Princeville at Lewistown 42-24.

In other 1A sectional championship action, Hardin Calhoun won on their home court defeating Okawville 59-33. They advance to play at B.E. Gum in Salem Monday night against Goreville who won the Woodlawn title over Christopher 45-35.

In 2A Sectional championships, Mater Dei defeated Nashville at Johnston City 46-24. They will advance to play Camp Point Central at Illinois College in Jacksonville. Teutopolis advanced to the Parkland College Super Sectional with a 62-50 overtime win over Newton. In the 3 point shootout, Flora’s Kelsey Krutsinger advanced to shoot at State.

The large schools played for regional titles last night. At Trout Arena in Centralia, the host Annies comeback bid fell short as the 10th seed fell to top-seed Carterville 49-45. Carterville advances to the Waterloo Sectional on Tuesday when they play Highland. The Lady Bulldogs defeated Breese Central in Breese 41-36. Advancing to shoot in the 3 point contest from Centralia was Sydney Geurin who hit 10 last night to keep her Salem career going. She advanced with a trio of Olney Lady Tigers.

Also playing at the Waterloo Sectional will be Civic Memorial who beat Triad at Roxana 66-43. They will get Murphysboro after they won the Herrin regional over Benton 43-41. Paris defended their home court and defeated Charleston to advance to the MacArthur Sectional where they play Rochester. Mattoon will also be there following their Urbana title over Champaign Central 67-51. Avery Jackson scored 20 for the Wave. Mattoon will play the winner of tonight’s regional title game in Taylorville between Effingham and Lincoln.

Edwardsville kept their undefeated season going winning the Collinsville 4A regional over Belleville East 70-33. They advance to the Normal University sectional in a game played at Collinsville where they will get the winner from Springfield tonight between the hosts and O’Fallon.
