A sprayer erupts into flames while traveling on the Ferrydale Road North of Sandoval Monday afternoon.

A sprayer that was being driven down the Ferrydale Road north of Sandoval engulfed into flames Monday afternoon and was destroyed.

Sandoval Fire officials say the driver, Jason Wesselman of Breese, was able to get away from the vehicle without injury. Wesselman told firemen he looked back as he was driving and saw the fire in the engine compartment. The cause of the fire has not been determined.

Odin and Patoka Firemen were called for mutual aid assistance for additional water because firemen feared the fire might spread to the diesel fuel tank that was half full.

The fire call came in at 2:25 Monday afternoon. Firemen remained on the scene for several hours. The incident occurred about a half mile east of U.S. 51.
