Centralia Woman Charged with Possession of Meth. Benton Woman Pleads Guilty to Felony Retail Theft.

A 24-year-old Centralia woman who told jail officials she was homeless has been charged with a new offense of possession of less than five grams of methamphetamine. Melanie Scerba had the public defender appointed to represent her. She was allegedly found in possession of the drug when being searched following an arrested on an outstanding Marion County failure to appear warrant in a prior meth case. Scerba's bond on the warrant is set at $10,000. No additional bond was added on the new charge.

A 38-year-old Benton woman has pleaded guilty to felony retail theft. Brandy Wilkerson was placed on three years probation, ordered to serve 66 days in jail with credit, and ordered to undergo drug and alcohol evaluation and treatment. She admitted to taking items from the Dollar General Store in Central City. The charge was a felony due to a past theft conviction.

A 31-year-old Mt. Vernon man has pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor violation of an order of protection. Kent Washington of South 18th Street was placed on two-year probation, 29 days in jail with credit for time served and ordered to undergo a drug and alcohol evaluation.
