A 69-year-old Salem man has been arrested by Salem Police for attempted murder of his wife who is in poor health.

Salem Police Detective Bryan Green says Charles Wood of Bob White Lane was arrested after he called 911 to reported that he had attempted to kill his wife by giving her an insulin overdose. Police say Wood's wife was taken to Salem Township Hospital via ambulance and was last reported to being held for observation.

Green said Wood's wife is an Alzheimer's Disease patient and in general poor health and her husband apparently wanted to put an end to her suffering.
