State Treasurer Says Getting Unclaimed Property You're Due Is Now Easier

There Are Now Two New Ways to File a Claim

State Treasurer Mike Frerichs says getting any unclaimed property you're due is now easier and faster than ever.

Treasurer Frerichs says paperwork hassles for his office's I-Cash Program have been greatly reduced with two new ways to file a claim.

"Eclaiming allows the public to upload necessary claim information in an electronic format on our website. Fast Track allows quick approval and payment of simple, low dollar amount claims. The automated review process compares information submitted by the claimant. Information reported on the property which includes social security numbers, past addresses and names."

Frerichs says they are holding a lot of property.

"We have more than 2-billion dollars in unclaimed property to return to Illinois residents. And I've talked to countless ones that say its not that much money that makes it worth the time and hassle. We've now made it so much simpler we hope people will get the money the rightfully belongs to them."
