The Salem City Council has agreed to allow DJ's Liquor Supply to change liquor license classification to be able to offer video gaming.

DJ's current package liquor license does not allow for the option of video gaming. They will be moved to the 'tavern' license for both package and on premise consumption that then also allows for the gaming machines.

Members of the city council expressed concern about the continuing expansion of video gaming, but agreed in this case they would be discriminating against an established local business if they declined the request.

In other action, the council approved Fick, Eggemeyer, and Williamson as its auditor for the next three years. City Manager Bill Gruen says the current auditor has done a great job, but he feels it is good to have 'fresh eyes' look at the city's finances periodically. Councilman Craig Morton voted to keep the current auditors, Glass and Shuffett of Centralia.
