New Construction in Centralia Totals $7,817,458 in 2017
Three Building Permits Total More Than $1-Million. 44 Demolition Permits Were Issued.

New construction activity in Centralia during 2017 topped $7.8-million. The city also continued its aggressive demolition effort to tear down substandard homes.

Three of the 173 building permits issued totaled over $1-million. They were the $1.5-million permit for the Cedarhurst of Centralia Alzheimer care facility at 1827 East McCord, the $1.8-million conversion of the former Priced Right Foods building to three retail stores, and the $1.5-million permit for the new McDonald's Restaurant at 810 East Broadway.

Other large commercial permits during the year included the $350,000 addition to the Regions Bank at 1324 West Broadway, $300,000 addition of the banquet facility at Greenview Country Club, and the $120,200 addition of a canopy over the tanks at Hawkins, Inc at #1 Cahill Drive.

Permits were issued for ten new homes and two new duplexes all to Shores Builders, Incorporated for a subdivision off the Greenview Road. The total construction cost was placed at $1,000,000.

Centralia issued a total of 44 demolition permits, most to tear down homes and outbuildings.
