2017 was a dryer year than 2016.

Figures released by the Salem Water Plant indicate 1.41 inches of precipitation fell in December, bringing the yearly total to 35.72 inches. That compares to 36.5 inches recorded in 2016. The wettest month of the year was April when 8.84 inches of rain fell. The driest month was .54 inches recorded in August.

In Centralia, total precipitation was 36.17 inches, the lowest since 2007 and below the 40.86 inch total for 2016.

The Salem Water Plant reports the high temperature of the year was 96 degrees reached on July 22nd and the low temperature for 2017 was 2 below zero on January second of last year.
