A Damiansville woman is in custody following a police chase early Sunday morning that began in Carlyle and ended just south of Vandalia.

Sandoval and Marion County Sheriff's Deputies got involved in the chase of the car reportedly driven by Stacie Stevenson when it moved from Clinton to Marion County. A Sandoval Police officer reportedly was able to blow out one of her back tires with a stop stick, but that only caused Stevenson to drive on the one rim.

The chase continued up U.S. 51 to just south of Vandalia where Vandalia Police and the Fayette County Sheriff's Department had set up a roadblock at the U.S. 40 and 51 interchange. Boxed in by the roadblock ahead and the Marion County officers still chasing her, deputies say Stevenson gave up and was taken into custody without incident.

Carlyle Police have not released any information on what started the chase or what charges Stevenson faces in Clinton County. They took her back to the Clinton County Jail at Carlyle.

Marion County Sheriff's indicated they would seek an aggravated fleeing and eluding charge for traveling 70 to 90 miles per hour in a 55-mile zone.

The chase unfolded shortly after one Sunday morning.
