A 28-year-old Centralia man is being held in the Marion County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond after being charged with vehicular hijacking.

Travis Wooters of South Sycamore is accused of forcibly taking keys to a car owned by an acquaintance when she refused to allow him to use the vehicle. The victim, who was standing behind the car, moved out of the way when it appears Wooters might back over her. Wooters also allegedly told the victim she would be sorry if she reported the theft to police.

The incident occurred at a home in the 400 block of East Perry Street in Sandoval on Friday. Centralia Police was able to locate Wooters and the stolen vehicle late Friday night at a home in the 600 block of McKee Street.
