Firemen battle a fire in large hay bales that destroyed a barn owned by Clint Ahlf on Jolliff Bridge Road on Thursday.

Four fire departments combined efforts Thursday afternoon and evening to fight a fire that destroyed a pole barn with 30 to 40 round hay bales inside.

Sandoval Fire Chief Chad Parson says the fire occurred at a barn owned by Clint Ahlf at 12123 Jolliff Bridge Road southwest of Sandoval. Heavy smoke could be seen rolling out of the barn by the first firemen on the scene. The barn ended up being pulled down by a front end loader to allow the hay bales to be spread out and the fire put out.

The cause of the fire has not been determined. The State Fire Marshals office has been called to assist in trying to determine the cause.

Sandoval called Odin, Centralia Fire Protection District, and Huey-Boulder-Ferrin Firemen for mutual aide assistance. Parson reports no injuries in fighting the fire.

The call first came in at 1:11 Thursday afternoon. Firemen were on the scene until 7:45 Thursday night.

Barn owned by Clint Ahlf full of large hay bales burns Thursday off the Jolliff Bridge Road.
