The Salem City Council has called a special meeting for Tuesday night to finalize the paperwork for construction of a new Denny's Restaurant.

City officials say the signing of the development agreement and the sale of the land to WKS are the last hurdles for the city in making the new Denny's a reality. The restaurant will be constructed along West Main in front of the Salem Holiday Inn Express.

Under the development agreement, the city is providing money for construction of a road from Kinney Boulevard to the new restaurant as well as replacing the fence along West Main in front of the restaurant.

WKS purchased the entire plot of land in front of the Holiday Inn Express which also has room for a second new food establishment. However, at this point, WKS has not announced their plans.

The special Salem City Council meeting begins at six Tuesday night at Salem City Hall.
