Salem Community High School Superintendent Brad Detering told the school board Monday night new electronic scoreboards have been ordered to B.E. Gum Gymnasium.

Detering reported there will be one large drop-down scoreboard from the ceiling at center court and two new scoreboards attached to the wall at both ends of the basketball courts. Advertising on the signs purchased by two Salem businesses will pay the cost of the new scoreboards. Detering says they will be installed over the Holiday Break and be ready for the Salem Invitational Tournament.

The board passed its annual tax levy ordinance. It is 4.9-percent higher than last year to capture any new construction and the amount of the consumer price index that is just over 2-percent this year.

The board approved a donation of $3,120 to Shriner's Hospital, which is equal to 40-percent of the gross proceeds for this year's Salem-Centralia Shrine football game.

Detering was given permission to seek the best electric aggregation agreement he could obtain from electric brokers. The board selected a bid from Iuka State Bank to handle district funds in the coming year.

The board appointed Kayla Harris as Assistant Bowling Coach.
