Odin Township Receives USDA Grant

Money Will Help Pay for New Road Grader

Congressman John Shimkus has announced that Odin Township has been awarded a USDA Rural Development grant for $23,300.

The grant application indicates the funds will be used to purchase a road grader for Odin Township. It will replace the township's existing equipment that is n disrepair. the grader will be used to plow snow in the winter as well as repair gravel roads for safe passage throughout the township. The township contributed $26,7000 for a total project cost of $50,000.

Shimkus says grants from the USDA make necessary development and pubic safety projects possible for rural communities. He says his office can assist with rural development grants as well as any other federal grant program application.
