0 0

A three-man team of Ameren Illinois linemen from across Southern Illinois brought home some hardware from the 34th Annual International Lineman's Rodeo, Oct. 14, in Bonner Springs, Kansas.

Kent Diekemper of Centralia, Jason Novak of Marion, and Kevin Koester of Effingham, took third place in the Journeyman Speed Climb with a time of 44.23 seconds. A crew from California finished first with a time of 39.96 seconds.

The Lineman's Rodeo attracts the best linemen from around the world to compete in events based on traditional lineman tasks and skills. Senior Directors of Division Operations North for Ameren Illinois Craig Gilson says they like to refer to the competition as the Olympics for linemen - the best of the best from around the country safely competing for bragging rights.

All Ameren Illinois linemen dedicated their performances this year to the memory of Marvin Morey, who put his heart and soul into supporting this event year after year.
