The Illinois Department of Corrections recently completed their annual inspection of the Marion County Jail. Criminal Justice Specialist Dianne Fritschle inspected the jail on May 25th with the entrance and exit interviews conducted by Jail Administrator Michelle Sheeler.

Fritschle noted some improvements since the last inspection. She noted that a kiosk is now located in each housing unit. Detainees will soon be able to order commissary, submit requests, medical requests and grievances via the kiosk. The Law Library and jail rules will also be available for detainee viewing. Video visitation and online video visitation will be available as well.

She also noted a new detainee transport van has been purchased and a new door locking system has been installed. There were no findings of non-compliance with Illinois County Jail Standards.
