Special Agent William Blackburn

A member of the Zone 7 Methamphetamine Response Team in Southern Illinois has been named the Illinois State Police Officer of the Year. Special Agent William Blackburn opened 50 cases in 2015 and completed 70 criminal arrests. He responded and dismantled 78 labs, seizing over 18-thousand grams of methamphetamine.

Blackburn also worked with federal prosecutors on two significant cases, including a federal drug conspiracy entitled Operation Centralia Crew which resulted in 26 federal indictments and convictions on numerous drug charges.

As an expert witness, Blackburn looks for ways to improve himself and his team while striving to promote their safety and the safety of residents.

There were two other finalists for Officer of the Year from the area, Sergeant Adam Belcher in District 12 and Sergeant Brian Wilson in District 13.

Telecommunicator Ross Boshera of Centralia, who works at the DuQuion Command Center, was a finalist for Telecommunicator of the Year.
