The City of Centralia has announced Goodwill Industries International, Inc. is the second retailer committed to occupy the former Tom's Price Right Foods building on the west side of Centralia. Dollar Tree earlier announced their location in the building. The two stores plan to open in late summer 2017.
Goodwill Industries operates over 3,200 stores in the U.S. and Canada. Many accept donations of clothing and household goods. Some local Goodwill stores or donation centers also accept donated electronics, computers, and furniture. Local Goodwill organizations sell those items in Goodwill stores and online, generating revenue to fund job placement and support services, including child care and financial education.
The President and CEO of MERS/Missouri Goodwill Industries Dave Kutchback says they are looking forward to opening a good store and creating employment opportunities for people.
Centralia Economic Development Director Kala Lambert says she looks forward to an additional partner in providing employment and skills training opportunities as well as donated items for reuse. She's also delighted the building is being redeveloped as it has been vacant since 2013.
Developers are currently seeking a third tenant to occupy the remaining 3,741 square feet available.
