An engineering firm has relocated to Salem from Centralia.

Rhutasel and Associates held an open house at their new facility at Seven Carpenter Drive in the Salem Industrial Park Thursday evening.

Branch Office Manager and head of the structural engineering department Gary Hahn says the firm outgrew its old location and began looking in Centralia and Salem for a new location. He reports the new facility is perfect for their needs and seven employees that will be based in Salem.

"We have the office space and Americana maintains the production space for their factory and fabrication department. They did not need at that time the offices, but needed the manufacturing space so it works out for both parties. We needed the offices but certainly not all the space on the production side."

Rhutasel is leasing the space from Americana. He reports the company does a wide variety of engineering work.

"We do general municipal engineering, civil, highway, structural, land surveying and the general municipal work for county highway departments, cities and private contractors and developers."

Hahn said Rhutasel first opened an office in Centralia in 1995 when acquiring another engineering firm.
