The Marion County Soil and Water Conservation District is now accepting orders for their spring 2017 tree seedling and fish sales.
The District is offering 7 tree species. All tree seedlings have been selected because they are adapted to the climate of Marion County. Evergreen trees available are White Pine, Norway Spruce, and White Spruce. These are 2 and 3-year-old bare root seedlings and range in size from 10 inches to 18 inches tall. These seedlings are typically purchased in bundles of 25 trees, but can also be purchased individually.
The remaining species available are Bald Cypress, White Flowering Dogwood, Pecan and Sawtooth Oak. Most of these seedlings are approximately 18 inches tall. All trees are limited in numbers, so order early. Orders will be accepted until March 24th.
This year the Conservation District will again offer fish for pond stocking. Ten varieties of fish will be sold. They are channel cat, albino catfish, largemouth bass, flathead minnows, black crappie, hybrid sunfish, bluegill, redear, hybrid redear and triploid grass carp.
Grass Carp orders due by February 28th. All orders for fish orders must be received by March 9th, 2017. The fish delivery will be Thursday, March 16th at 8:00 AM.
