There will be a vote in the Village of Odin in April on whether liquor sales should be allowed in the community. More than 150 signed petitions asked the village board to put the issue on the ballot. The petition has caused Village Clerk Rick Meredith to resign. Meredith said he wanted nothing to do with seeing alcohol come to Odin and ruin the community. Similar wet-dry votes have failed in Odin in the past.

The referendum is one of two that is on the Marion County ballot in the April election. The other would allow for a countywide one cent sales tax to support infrastructure needs of schools in the county. School boards representing a majority of students in the county had passed resolutions asking for the vote.

The April election will also feature candidates for city councils, village boards, school boards, Kaskaskia College Board, and township officials.
