Centralia Police have arrested two men they allegedly caught doing drugs in the Amtrak station early Tuesday morning.
25-year-old Julian Heffron of Maulding Drive in Centralia was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a narcotic instrument and possession of drug paraphernalia. 20-year-old Austin Tibbetts of Belleville is being held for possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Centralia Police say the two men attempted to quickly exit the Amtrak station after spotting police outside. The two were asked about having illegal items due to the smell of cannabis smoke in the building.
Tibbetts allegedly admitted having a drug pipe in his possession. Police say they also found a small plastic bag with a cotton swab that tested positive for heroin.
Heffron was allegedly found in possession of a zip lock bag with a rolled up sock inside. Inside the sock, police report finding a meth pipe, a small baggie with meth residue, a hypodermic syringe and a spoon with a cotton swab filter.
Both were transferred to the Marion County Jail to await the filing of formal charges.
