Two Mt. Vernon residents have been charged with Class 'X' felony charges of armed robbery of the Blue Goose Liquor Store in Wamac last January.

23-year-old Denzel Haynes of South 21st Street and 27-year-old Steven Collier of Harrison Street are both already serving lengthy prison terms after being convicted of other armed robberies that occurred in Mt. Vernon at about the same time. The charge against the two men claimed while armed with a handgun they took cash, checks, and coupons from the clerk by threatening imminent use of force.

Haynes is currently serving a 21-year prison term for the December 2015 armed robbery of Times Square Liquors North. Collier is serving a 14 year prison term for his role in the January 2016 armed robbery of the Jumpin Jimmies store in Mt. Vernon.

The two will be brought from prison at a future date to be formally arraigned on the charges.
