Phillies still streaking...A-Rod still stuck at 599

UNDATED (AP) - The Philadelphia Phillies keep winning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks keep losing. Roy Halladay tossed a six-hitter and top prospect Domonic Brown had two hits and two RBIs in his major league debut to lead the streaking Phillies to a 7-1 victory over Arizona. That's the Phillies' seventh straight win and the Diamondbacks' sixth straight loss.

Jayson Werth went 3 for 4 with three runs scored and Carlos Ruiz went 3 for 4 with three RBIs for the Phillies, who've won 10 in a row at home.

Brown, a 20th-round pick in the 2006 draft, was called up from Triple-A Lehigh Valley before the game after outfielder Shane Victorino went on the 15-day disabled list with an abdominal strain on his left side.

In the rest of the NL:

  • NL East-leading Atlanta trimmed Washington 3-1. Braves starter Tim Hudson improved to 10-and-1 lifetime against the Nationals franchise. He scattered seven hits over seven and a-third innings and improved to 11-and-5 on the season. The Braves maintain their three and a-half game lead over the Phils.

  • The San Diego Padres beat the L.A. Dodgers 6-1 to drop Joe Torre's club six games back in the NL West. Clayton Richard and four relievers combined on a four-hitter.

  • Andres Torres hit a ground-rule single with the bases loaded and one out in the bottom of the 10th inning to lift the San Francisco Giants to a 10-9 victory over Florida. The Giants are two and a-half games back of the Padres.

  • The St. Louis Cardinals outlasted the New York Mets 8-7 in 13 innings. Albert Pujols drove in the go-ahead run with a single for the Cardinals, who lost an early 6-0 lead. Matt Holliday homered and drove in three.

  • Brandon Phillips hit a 450-foot grand slam to punctuate Cincinnati's 10-2 shellacking of the Brewers in Milwaukee. Phillips' monster shot landed in Bernie Brewer's slide in deep left field at Miller Park. The Reds and Cards remain in a virtual tie for first in the NL Central.

  • Pittsburgh topped Colorado 6-2. Garrett Jones homered twice. That's the Rockies' eighth straight loss.

  • Carlos Lee hit a pair of home runs, including the go-ahead shot in the sixth inning, and the Houston Astros routed the Cubs 8-1.

In the AL:

  • Boston improved to 7-and-0 against the Angels this season following a 7-3 victory that finished off a 7-and-3 West Coast road trip. The Red Sox hit four homers, including a tiebreaking grand slam in the eighth by Marco Scutaro. That completed a three-game sweep for the Red Sox at Angel Stadium. It's the first time the Angels have been swept at home in 80 series. Kevin Youkilis, Adrian Beltre and Bill Hall also homered for Boston.

  • Alex Rios hit a tiebreaking RBI single in the seventh inning and the slugging Chicago White Sox rallied to beat the Seattle Mariners 6-5 for their 10th straight home win. Paul Konerko, Alexei Ramirez and Gordon Beckham went deep for the White Sox, who have won three straight and four of six to move 12 games over .500 while holding a one-game lead over Minnesota in the AL Central.

  • Delmon Young had a three-run homer and the Minnesota Twins finished off a three-game sweep of the Kansas City Royals, 6-4. Jason Repko also homered for the Twins.

  • The Tampa Bay Rays got out of a seventh-inning jam for the second consecutive game after intentionally walking AL triple crown contender Miguel Cabrera with runners on first and second and two outs en route to a 7-4 win over the Detroit Tigers.

  • Toronto blanked Baltimore 5-0 as Brad Mills earned his first major league win. Mills and three relievers combined on a three-hitter. Lyle Overbay hit a three-run home run in Toronto's 12th consecutive win over Baltimore.

  • Trevor Cahill allowed two hits over eight innings and won his 10th game, Kurt Suzuki homered and drove in two runs and the Oakland Athletics beat the Texas Rangers 3-1.

  • Alex Rodriguez singled and doubled in five at-bats in the Yankees' 8-0 win over Cleveland. A-Rod is still one homer shy of joining the exclusive 600 club and has gone five games without a longball since belting No. 599 last Thursday. A.J. Burnett earned his third win in four starts and improved to 9-and-8.

Moving some pieces...Strasburg has "hit a wall"

UNDATED (AP) - The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired outfielder Scott Podsednik from the Kansas City Royals for a pair of minor leaguers in a deal before Saturday's 4 p.m. (Eastern) trade deadline.

Bynum to be limited following surgery...Family mourns for Lorenzen Wright

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Los Angeles Lakers center Andrew Bynum is expected to be limited at the start of training camp after undergoing successful surgery on his right knee. The 7-foot Bynum had surgery in New York to repair a partially torn ligament in his right knee that bothered him most of last season, although he started all 23 Laker postseason games. He averaged 8.6 points and nearly 7 rebounds a game in the postseason.

Although Bynum said the recovery time for the surgery was expected to be short, the Lakers say Bynum will be available "on a limited basis" when training camp opens Sept. 25.
