Barbara Thomason, age 78 of Salem, died September 1st at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was a priest at Community of Christ Church in Salem, involved in insurance sales and operated the Shoe Shack in Salem for many years.

Alden Ray Rush, age 60, a native of Centralia passed away on Sunday, August 28th in Battle Creek, Michigan.  He retired from the United States Postal Service.

Jeffrey Tenczar, age 58 of Centralia, died Sunday morning, August 29 at St. Louis University Hospital. He was self-employed painter and plasterer.

Jeffrey Tenczar is to be cremated with private family services held at a later date.

Mary Krutsinger, age 80 of Salem, died Sunday, August 29th at her home. She was a former cook for the Salem Elementary Grade School and was heavily involved with church activities.

Funeral services for Mary Krutsinger will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3rd at the First Baptist Church in Salem. Burial will follow in the Elder Cemetery in Kinmundy. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church  from 5-7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Friday. Raymond "Bud" Koethe, age 93, of O'Fallon passed away Monday, August 30th at his daughter's home in O'Fallon. He was Secretary/Treasurer for Local 100 in East Louis, Missouri.

Graveside services for Raymond "Bud" Koethe will be held Thursday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Letha Joy Rose, age 77 of Salem, died Saturday, August 28, at her home.  She had worked for 22 years as a bookkeeper at Warfield Beeson Tire and was a volunteer for several organizations.

Paul R. Morgan, Sr, age 81 of Centralia, died August 27th at Fireside House in Centralia. He owned Morgan Auto Repair for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He also worked at Blankenship and LTD Ford.

Nella M. Hohmeyer, age 101 of Odin, died Friday, August 27th at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia; Nella worked at a candy and canning factory in St. Louis, MO, later working for Jim Hudson as a housekeeper. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Thresa Smith, age 91 of Odin died Thursday, August 26th at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  Thresa worked for Odin School for 25 years.

Funeral services will be on Sunday, August 29th at Bethel Baptist Church in Odin at 3PM.  Friends may visit Saturday, August 28th at Irvin Funeral Home in Odin from 5PM to 8PM or after 1PM on Sunday, August 29th.

Dennis L. Jamison, age 52 of Salem, died August 26th at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He enjoyed deer hunting.

Alietha M .White, age 81 of Kinmundy, died Monday, August 23rd at Salem Township Hospital in Salem. She was a homemaker and second mother to many.

Funeral services for Alietha M. White will be held 10 a.m. Friday, August 27th at the Pagel Funeral Home in Edgewood. Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home. Terry Ferrell, age 56 of Centralia, died Monday evening at his home.  Terry was a painter & sandblaster.

A private memorial service will be held following cremation.  Memorials may be made to Gospel Lighthouse in Odin.

Mary Davis, age 79, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on August 22, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mary moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1952, was there for 55 years and then moved to Hendersonville, TN in January 2008. During her life she had three careers, Albuquerque Skill Center Administer, T.V.I of New Mexico, Unlimited City of Albuquerque Neighborhood Services and for the Mayor of City Hall in New Mexico.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 27 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Mike Sutherland officiating.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and will be received at the funeral home. Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of local arrangements.

Mary is survived by her husband Robert Dean "Bob" Davis, three sons: Larry and wife Dorothy of Albuquerque, NM, Randal D. Davis of Hendersonville, TN and Ric Davis of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters: Leona Donley of San Diego, CA and Jane Cook of Belen, NM; four grandchildren: Candice L. Stevens and husband Mike of Central City, CO, Tamara Davis of Albuquerque, NM, Travis D. Davis of Hendersonville, TN, Robert William Davis of Albuquerque, NM and four great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.

 

Lucille Harris, age 91, of Springfield, formerly of Salem, died Saturday, August 22nd, in Springfield.   She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Harris was cremated.  Entombment will be private at Roselawn Memorial Park of Springfield, Illinois.  There will be no public visitation.  Memorials may be made to the Donor's choice and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem who is in charge of arrangements.

Kenneth Jackson Sr., age 80, of Centralia passed away Monday, August 23rd at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon. Kenneth work for Illinois Central Railroad-Carman.

James D. Nordike, age 75, of Salem passed away on Tuesday, August 24th at his home in rural Salem.  James served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas and later worked for 27 years as an equipment specialist for the U.S. Army.

Harriet Currie, age 99, of Salem, died Saturday, August 21st, at Doctor's Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. She was a housewife who was active in the Marion County Home Extension and a 4H leader for many years.

Paul T. Arnold, age 81, of Salem, passed away Sunday, August 22nd, at Salem Township Hospital.  He was a school teacher.

Mary Alice Tockstein, age 82, of Alma, died Sunday, August 22nd, at her home.  She was a beautician.

Nicholas D. Feather, age 23 of Patoka, died Wednesday, August 23rd from an accident. He was a welder for Foltz Pipeline Company, a Patoka Firefighter and a member of Union Local 653.

Ruby Dean Medder, age 85, of Dix, died Saturday afternoon, August 21st, at Mt. Vernon Countryside Manor.  She was a member of the Dix Methodist Church and enjoyed crocheting. 

Funeral services for Ruby Dean Medder will be held at two Tuesday afternoon at the Osborn Funeral Home in Dix.  Burial in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Edwardsville.  Visitation will be from noon until the time of the service on Tuesday.

Vernon. 

Mabel Linder, age 89, of Centralia, the widow of Clarence Linder, died Saturday afternoon, August 21st, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.  She was retired from Warren G. Murray Developmental Center and the Centralia Dress Factory.

Graveside funeral services for Mabel Linder will be held at ten Tuesday morning at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia from six to eight Monday night or from 7:30 to 9:30 Tuesday morning.  Memorials may be made to the Centralia Recreation Department for Youth Activities and will be received at the Irvin Funeral Home who is caring for the Linder family.

Opal Ritchie, age 74, of Salem, died Thursday, August 19th, at Doctor's Nursing Home in Salem. she had worked at the Brown Shoe Factory, Country Gardens, Chromaloy and was also a housekeeper.

Funeral services for Opal Ritchie will be held Sunday, August 22nd, 1:30 p.m. at the Salem General Baptist Church. Visitation is Saturday, 5-7 p.m. at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem. Memorials can be made to the Gideons or the Alzheimers Fund and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Glen Lewis Wallis, age 95, of Central City, passed away Wednesday morning, August 18th, at Heritage Woods in Centralia.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in England and was a union truck driver for 27 years with Kas Potato Chips until his retirement in June 1978.

Bobby C. McDaniel, age 62 of Centralia, died Thursday, August 19th at Doctor's Health and Rehab in Salem. He was a laborer at Big 3 Precision.

Beulah Marie Dothager, age 81, of Centralia, died Monday morning, August 16th, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis, MO.  She was a packer at Wheaton Plastic in Centralia.

McArthur J. Dady, age 68, of Odin, passed away Sunday, August 15th, at St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis.

Mary Alice Hall, age 67, of Centralia, died Monday, August 16th, at her home in Centralia.  She was a moulder at the former Meridian plant in Centralia.

Funeral services for Mary Alice Hall will be held at ten Thursday morning at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.  Burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park. Friends may meet from six to eight Wednesday evening at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia or after eight Thursday morning until the time of the service.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or American Cancer Society.

Susan Bell Heyduck, age 80, of Centralia, passed away Monday afternoon, August 16th, at Fireside Nursing Home in Centralia. 

Upon Susan's request she will be cremated.  Private family services will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Centralia Historical Museum and will be accepted at the funeral home.  Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Centralia is in charge of arrangements. 

Survivors include two sisters:  Mary Michell of Sioux, Iowa and Sarah Oestreich and husband Kenneth of Centralia, along with several nieces and nephews. 

Louise Heflin, age 93 of Centralia, died Friday, August 13th at Twin Willow Nursing Center in Salem. She was a school bus driver for the Raccoon Grade School for many years and also drove for the Salem Community High School. She loved horses, dolls, cats quilting and making baskets.

Funeral services for Louise Heflin will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 18th at Harvey's Point Christian Church in Kell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17th at the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem and from 10 a.m. until the service hour at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be made to the Harvey's Point Church Cemetery and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.

Sheila 'Kathy' Evans, age 53, of Junction City, died Sunday, August 15th, at her home.  She retired disabled after 14 years in the dietary department at Murray Center in Centralia.

Funeral services for Sheila 'Kathy' Evans will be held at ten Wednesday morning at the Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.  Burial at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Visitation will be from six to eight Tuesday night at the Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.  Memorials may be made to Hospice, the American Cancer Society or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Clark Henry, age 86, of Salem, died Thursday, August 12th, at his home.  He was a retired employee of Continental Emsco Company-Oil States with 33 years of service, was a member of the First Christian Church in Salem and a Salem Wildcat and Oklahoma Sooner enthusiast.

A memorial service for Clark Henry will be held at 11:30 Tuesday morning in the chapel of the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial will follow at the East Lawn Cemetery in Salem.  The family will greet friends from ten until the time of the service hour on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the Salem Township Hospital Foundation or to the First Christian Church and will be received by the funeral home.

Fred H. Spangler, age 75, of Bluford, passed away Friday, August 13th, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  He was retired from Valley Steel in Centralia and a member of the Howard Community Chapel Church.

Carol Sue Wheatley, age 67, of Centralia, passed away suddenly on Friday morning, August 13th, in the emergency room at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.  She was a member of the Day Star Tabernacle in Centralia.

Ray E. Dickinson, age 34, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, August 11, 2010, at his home.

Edith M. Ellis, age 94, of Keenes, died Friday, August 13th, at her home.

Opal Ellis, age 84 of Centralia, died Friday, August 13th at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.

Theda "Jane" Dice, age 87, of Salem, died August 8th, at her home. She was a retired employee of the State Department in Washington D.C. Jane was also involved with the First Baptist Church and Salem Township Hospital Auxiliary.

Funeral services for Jane Dice  will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, August 14th in the chapel of the Rankin Funeral Home in Salem. Burial will follow at the Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia. Visitation will be held 6-8 p.m. on Friday, and 10 a.m. until the service time on Saturday. Memorials can be made to the Salem Township Hospital Foundation, Gideon's International or the First Baptist Church of Salem and will be accepted by the funeral home.

Braxton Lee Crain, the newborn son of Charles David Crain Junior and Kayla Nichole 'Krause' Crain of Salem, died Saturday morning at St. Mary's Hospital in St. Louis. 

Graveside services for Braxton Lee Crain will be held at ten Saturday morning at Evergreen Cemetery in Kinmundy.  There is no visitation.  Memorials may be made to the family of Braxton Lee Crain.

Marguerite Hardy, age 93 of Pulaski, VA and formerly of Centralia, died Monday, August 9th, at Pulaski Community Hospital in Pulaski, VA.

Stanley Eugene Ferguson of Centralia, died Monday, August 9th at Fireside House in Centralia.

David R. Carter, 62, of Centralia, passed away at 6:08 p.m. on Monday, August 9, 2010 at his home.  He was retired from Intier in Nashville where he was manager of the Shipping and Receiving Department and also a veteran of the U.S. Army.

A visitation to celebrate the life of David Carter will be from five until seven Friday night at the Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.  Services and interment will be private.  Memorials in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society and will be received by the funeral home.

Todd Michael Truman Murray, age 44 of Salem, died on Monday Aug 9, 2010 at his residence. He worked for the Canadian National Railroad as a conductor, had worked for Radiac and was formerly a volunteer Firefighter and EMT for Sandoval Fire Department.

Celebration of life service for Todd Murray will be held on Thursday at 11:00 AM at the Day Funeral Home in Sandoval. Friends may call the  Day Funeral Home in Sandoval on Wednesday from 5-8 PM and on Thursday from  8AM until the service time. Ric David Cline age 27 of Centralia died on Sunday Aug 8, 2010 at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. He was a Sawyer at Burk's Saw Mill.  He was a member of the Horseshoe club.  He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and friends.

Boyce White, age 69, of Salem, died Friday, August 7th, at St. Anthony Memorial Hospital in Effingham.  He was a laborer at Egyptian Concrete for  45 years and was very involved in the church and the Food Pantry.

Funeral services for Boyce White will be held at two Tuesday afternoon at the Evergreen Christian Church in Salem.  Burial in the 1880 Cemetery in Omega.  Visitation will be from five to eight Monday evening at the Evergreen Christian Church.  Memorials may be left to the Evergreen Christian Church Building Fund, and may be left at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home who is in charge of arrangements.

Elmer Nichols, age 85, of Centralia, died Friday morning, August sixth, at the Odin Healthcare Center in Odin.

Mario Hayes, age 32, of rural Centralia, died Friday morning at his home in Centralia.

Phillip G. White, age 62, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, August first, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  He had a passion for card playing,, which he turned into a life long career.  He formerly lived in Las Vegas, where he worked as a Card Dealer in the casinos.  He moved back to Centralia four years ago and was employed at the Casino Queen as a Card Dealer.

A Celebration of Life visitation for Phillip G. White will be held from two until four on Monday at the Garnier and Sons Funeral Home in Centralia.  Interment services will be held privately.  Memorials in his memory may be made to his granddaughter, Syleena White, and will be accepted at the funeral home.

Betty Guthrie, age 83, of Belleville, formerly of Salem, died Saturday morning, August 7th, at the Caseyville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Caseyville.  She worked in the office at Brown Shoe Company.

Funeral services for Betty Guthrie will be held at two Monday afternoon at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem.  Burial in the East Lawn Cemetery in Salem.  Visitation will be after one until the time of the service at the funeral home.

F. M. "Bud" Jeter, age 69 of Odin, died Wednesday August 3rd at his home.He was a veteran and loving husband of Sherry, a father of four, grandfather of seven and a friend to many.

Mary Catherine Lindsey, age 54 of Alma, died Wednesday, August 4th at her home. She worked highway construction for General Contractors of Central City.

Marjorie Mae Cutshall, age 94 of Centralia and formerly of Olney, died Tuesday, August 3rd at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia. She was a homemaker and had worked at the International Shoe Factory.

Funeral services for Marjorie Mae Cutshall will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 6th at Summers-Kistler Funeral Home in Olney. Visitation will be an hour before the funeral services. Burial will be in the Haven Hill Cemetery in Olney. Memorials can be made to the First United Methodist Churches in Olney or Centralia.

Janet Horst, age 67, of Centralia, died Sunday, August 1st at her home in Centralia.

Kay R. Nelson, 60 of Salem died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Kay was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Pleasant View Free Will Baptist church of rural Walnut Hill and a Sunday School teachers assistant helping with the little children.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010, 11:00am, at Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 10:00am until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.  Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Centralia is assisting the family.

Kay is survived by a sister Karen Hutson and husband David of Walnut Hill, a brother Kenneth G.  Belcher of Tennessee. One nephew Brad Hutson of Walnut Hill, two nieces Stacey Wiebler of Patoka and Charlene Lawrence of KY., two great nephews, David and Braden Hutson of Walnut Hill and a great niece Kaitlyn Hutson of Patoka.
