Barbara Thomason, age 78 of Salem, died September 1st at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis. She was a priest at Community of Christ Church in Salem, involved in insurance sales and operated the Shoe Shack in Salem for many years.


Funeral services for Barbara Thomason will be held Sunday, September 5th at 2 p.m. at the Rogers-Atkins Funeral Home in Salem. Visitation is Saturday from 5-7 p.m. Burial will be at the Paradise Cemetery. Memorials can be made to Outreach International for World Hunger.


Survivors include: Husband: Gary Thomason of Salem; Sons: Gary Waggoner and wife Mary of Salem, Gregory Waggoner and special friend Debbie of New Mexico and Barry Waggoner of Centralia; Daughter: Christi Trickett and husband Henry of West Virginia; Step sons: Allen Thomason of Christopher, Brian Thomason and wife Michelle of Leroy; Ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren and many extended family also survive.

Alden Ray Rush, age 60, a native of Centralia passed away on Sunday, August 28th in Battle Creek, Michigan.  He retired from the United States Postal Service.


Funeral services for Alden Rush will be held on Saturday, September 4th at 12 p.m. at the Mount Zion African Methodist Episcopal Church in Battle Creek. Friends may call Friday, September 3rd at T.M. Jeffrey Tenczar, age 58 of Centralia, died Sunday morning, August 29 at St. Louis University Hospital. He was self-employed painter and plasterer.


Jeffrey Tenczar is to be cremated with private family services held at a later date.

Mary Krutsinger, age 80 of Salem, died Sunday, August 29th at her home. She was a former cook for the Salem Elementary Grade School and was heavily involved with church activities.


Funeral services for Mary Krutsinger will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, September 3rd at the First Baptist Church in Salem. Burial will follow in the Elder Cemetery in Kinmundy. Visitation will be held Thursday at the church  from 5-7 p.m. and from 10 a.m. until the service hour on Friday. Memorials can be made to the First Baptist Church, Salem Township Hospital Foundation, American Cancer Society or the American Kidney Foundation and will be accepted by the Rankin Funeral Home, which is in charge of arrangements.

Raymond "Bud" Koethe, age 93, of O'Fallon passed away Monday, August 30th at his daughter's home in O'Fallon. He was Secretary/Treasurer for Local 100 in East Louis, Missouri.


Graveside services for Raymond "Bud" Koethe will be held Thursday, September 2nd at 11 a.m. at the Elmwood Cemetery in Centralia. Letha Joy Rose, age 77 of Salem, died Saturday, August 28, at her home.  She had worked for 22 years as a bookkeeper at Warfield Beeson Tire and was a volunteer for several organizations.

Paul R. Morgan, Sr, age 81 of Centralia, died August 27th at Fireside House in Centralia. He owned Morgan Auto Repair for 40 years, retiring in 1986. He also worked at Blankenship and LTD Ford.

Nella M. Hohmeyer, age 101 of Odin, died Friday, August 27th at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia; Nella worked at a candy and canning factory in St. Louis, MO, later working for Jim Hudson as a housekeeper. She enjoyed spending time with her family.

Thresa Smith, age 91 of Odin died Thursday, August 26th at St. Mary's Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  Thresa worked for Odin School for 25 years.

Mary Davis - 8/27/10

Mary Davis, age 79, of Hendersonville, TN, passed away on August 22, 2010 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville, TN. Mary moved to Albuquerque, NM in 1952, was there for 55 years and then moved to Hendersonville, TN in January 2008. During her life she had three careers, Albuquerque Skill Center Administer, T.V.I of New Mexico, Unlimited City of Albuquerque Neighborhood Services and for the Mayor of City Hall in New Mexico.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held Friday, August 27 at 1:00 P.M. at the Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel in Centralia with Mike Sutherland officiating.  Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association and will be received at the funeral home. Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center is in charge of local arrangements.

Mary is survived by her husband Robert Dean "Bob" Davis, three sons: Larry and wife Dorothy of Albuquerque, NM, Randal D. Davis of Hendersonville, TN and Ric Davis of Albuquerque, NM; two sisters: Leona Donley of San Diego, CA and Jane Cook of Belen, NM; four grandchildren: Candice L. James D. Nordike, age 75, of Salem passed away on Tuesday, August 24th at his home in rural Salem.  James served in the U.S. Air Force in Texas and later worked for 27 years as an equipment specialist for the U.S. Army.

Mabel Linder, age 89, of Centralia, the widow of Clarence Linder, died Saturday afternoon, August 21st, at St. Mary's Hospital in Centralia.  She was retired from Warren G. Murray Developmental Center and the Centralia Dress Factory.


Graveside funeral services for Mabel Linder will be held at ten Tuesday morning at Hillcrest Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia from six to eight Monday night or from 7:30 to 9:30 Tuesday morning.  Memorials may be made to the Centralia Recreation Department for Youth Activities and will be received at the Irvin Funeral Home who is caring for the Linder family.

Opal Ritchie, age 74, of Salem, died Thursday, August 19th, at Doctor's Nursing Home in Salem. she had worked at the Brown Shoe Factory, Country Gardens, Chromaloy and was also a housekeeper.

Glen Lewis Wallis - 8/21/10

Glen Lewis Wallis, age 95, of Central City, passed away Wednesday morning, August 18th, at Heritage Woods in Centralia.  He was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II in England and was a union truck driver for 27 years with Kas Potato Chips until his retirement in June 1978. 


Celebration of Life Service for Glen Wallis will be held at eleven Saturday morning at the Calumet Street Christian Church in Centralia.  A Memorial Gathering will be held from ten until the time of the services at the Calumet Street Christian Church.  Memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Wallis' honor to the Calumet Street Christian Church, SSM Hospice or Heritage Woods Activities Department and will be received at the Styninger Queen-Boggs Funeral Home in Centralia.  Online condolences may be made at www.styningerfuneralhomes.com

Louise Heflin, age 93 of Centralia, died Friday, August 13th at Twin Willow Nursing Center in Salem. She was a school bus driver for the Raccoon Grade School for many years and also drove for the Salem Community High School. She loved horses, dolls, cats quilting and making baskets.

Phillip G. White, age 62, of Centralia, passed away Sunday, August first, at St. Mary's/Good Samaritan Hospital in Centralia.  He had a passion for card playing,, which he turned into a life long career.  He formerly lived in Las Vegas, where he worked as a Card Dealer in the casinos.  He moved back to Centralia four years ago and was employed at the Casino Queen as a Card Dealer.

Janet Horst, age 67, of Centralia, died Sunday, August 1st at her home in Centralia.  


Funeral services for Janet Horst will be held at eleven Wednesday morning at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.  Visitation will be from nine to eleven Wednesday morning at the Irvin Funeral Home in Centralia.


Survivors include husband:  Carl Patrick Horst of Centralia, sons:  Mark Horst of Centralia, Roger Horst and wife Jo Ella of Centralia and Bryan Horst and wife Beth of Centralia, sister:  Norma (Broadwater) Morgan of Centralia, and grandchildren:  Matthew and friend Sierra Miller, Brendan, Brittany, Bailey and Brayden.

Kay R. Nelson - 8/4/10

Kay R. Nelson, 60 of Salem died Sunday, August 1, 2010 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. Kay was a homemaker, enjoyed crocheting and most of all she loved her family. She was a member of Pleasant View Free Will Baptist church of rural Walnut Hill and a Sunday School teachers assistant helping with the little children.

Services will be held Wednesday, August 4, 2010, 11:00am, at Hillcrest Lakeside Chapel with burial at Hillcrest Memorial Park.  Friends may call from 10:00am until time of service.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family and will be accepted at the funeral home.  Hillcrest Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Centralia is assisting the family.

Kay is survived by a sister Karen Hutson and husband David of Walnut Hill, a brother Kenneth G.  Belcher of Tennessee. One nephew Brad Hutson of Walnut Hill, two nieces Stacey Wiebler of Patoka and Charlene Lawrence of KY., two great nephews, David and Braden Hutson of Walnut Hill and a great niece Kaitlyn Hutson of Patoka.
