Raccoon School Board Moves Forward on Sewer Improvements
3/6/10 @ 11:38:45 am

The Raccoon School Board of Education elected to approve a pair of bids to improve sewer services for the school.

The board accepted a bid from Tate's Plumbing to supply and install an indoor duplex sewage lift station and electrical panel for about 10-thousand dollars. A bid from Consolidated Water Services for sewage treatment rehab was also approved. The 10-thousand dollar rehab project will include installing a new control panel, basin cover, new pump and original pump. Current Interim Superintendent Don Ostrom says the project is needed to continue reliable service for the school.

Meanwhile, the other Interim Superintendent, Dr. John Raymer is expecting a 13 to 15 percent drop in state aid for the next fiscal year. The state of Illinois currently owes Raccoon School over $123,000. No cuts or reductions were announced at Thursday's meeting. Superintendent Ostrom says the board will wait until after the March 10th State Budget Address to make any concrete decisions on staff and program cuts for the next school year. Their next board meeting has been scheduled for March 18th.
