Salem Township Hospital Nets Respiratory Care Honors
1/25/10 @ 1:44:11 pm

Salem Township Hospital has earned the designation of Quality Respiratory Care Provider for the eighth year in a row.

The National program is aimed at helping patients and families make informed decisions about the quality of the services provided by Respiratory Therapists in hospitals.  Only 15-percent of hospitals in the U.S. earn the award.  The program was started by the American Association for Respiratory Care in 2003 to help consumers identify those facilities utilizing qualified respiratory therapists to provide respiratory care.  Hospitals earning the designation ensure patient safety by agreeing to adhere to a strict set of criteria governing their respiratory care services.  At Salem Township Hospital, Respiratory Therapists are also cross-trained in cardiology testing such as EKG and heart monitoring and in Neurodiagnostics.

The staff is led by Medical Director Dr. Gautam Jha and Director Chris Jahn.  Other staff members are Stacie Burleyson, Kelly Cavins, Crystal Dunn, Kari Morton, Theresa Bass and Mary Metzger.
