11/27/09 @ 10:38:01 am

The Marion County Health Department has received a limited supply of 'seasonal' flu vaccine for adults 18 years of age or older.

The health department will hold walk-in seasonal flu vaccination clinics for adults every Monday beginning this coming Monday at the Salem office located at 118 Cross Creek Boulevard and every Wednesday, beginning December second, at the Centralia office located at 1013 North Poplar.  The hours of both clinics will be noon until four.  The clinics will be held until the vaccine  supply is gone.

Those recommended to receive the seasonal flu vaccine are women that will be pregnant during the influenza season, those 50 years of age or older, those with chronic medical conditions or weak immune systems, household contacts and caregivers of persons with chronic medical conditions, persons with weak immune systems, those who live in nursing homes and other long-term care facilities, and those who live with or care for those at high risk for complications from the flu.

It is also recommended that anyone who wants to reduce the likelihood of becoming ill with influenza or spreading influenza to others get vaccinated this flu season.
