The Village of Alma received a $593 check from Orchard View Winery for use in the rennovation of the community center at their most recent board meeting. The funds were raised as part of the 5K run held earlier this year.
Pete Watson with the winery thanked the council and sponsors of the event, which drew a large number of visitors and 52 runners despite the poor weather.
The village board also heard updates on the water standpipe project from Henneghan and Associates. The project is expected over budget for inspection services, but should be on par through savings in other services. The board will also begin cataloging issues with the village's problematic waterline for grant applications.
The costume contest held for Halloween was well-received by residents, with some 50 kids turning out for the event. Board members hope to host next year's contest in the village's community center.
