• A celebration of life service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 27, 2018, at Irvin Macz Funeral Home in Centralia, IL with Pastor Ken Hayden and Pastor Rick Atchley officiating. Interment will be in the Tower Grove Cemetery in Murphysboro, IL. Friends may call from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home. Arlene worked in a wide variety of roles for Illinois Bell and AT&T for many years. She was a member of Mount Catherine Christian Church in Woodlawn, also attended Webb Baptist Church in Boyd, Illinois and was a past member of Logan Street Baptist Church in Mount Vernon.   • William “Bill” L. Bradley, age 64, of Xenia, Illinois passed away Sunday, January 21, 2018, at his home. With a kind nature and good sense of humor, Bill generously gave his time in a variety of ways to help others through his volunteer commitments, and he recently even carried a few U.S. flags around so that he could offer to replace one that was faded or torn. No one was better at expressing patriotism better than Bill when it came to his pride for country and the community he lived in, but his heart was truly held in the hands of his family, especially the grandkids, who brought him so much happiness. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was interested in becoming a volunteer fireman and first responder early in life, first serving in Salem and later in Xenia, spending time as Captain at one time prior to his retirement. He also served on the Xenia Village Board. During his working career, he was employed at World Color Press and the Wal-Mart Distribution Center. Bill was a member of the American Legion, Sons of VFW, Flatlanders Social Club, Whitetails Unlimited, and was active in the Flora High School All 70’s Reunion Committee. He had been an avid fisherman and hunter and was known for making some of the best-tasting jerky and other treats.

  • Thelma M. Hays, 93 of Centralia, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at her home. Thelma worked at the Centralia House Restaurant as a cook for 20 plus years and later retired. She enjoyed Bingo, canning, scratch off lottery tickets, and her flowers. She was of the Christian Faith and recently was baptized at The Rock Church in Centralia. Thelma’s greatest enjoyment was spending time with her grandchildren, family and friends.

  • Richard L. Lacey, 100, of Mount Vernon, Illinois passed away at 11:35 P.M. January 23, 2018 at White Oak Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Mount Vernon, Illinois. Richard proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II in Iceland and the European Theater. He was a member of the 495 Anti-Aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. He worked as a driver for the Coca-Cola Company for 34 years and then as a school bus driver after retirement. He was of the Protestant faith and a member of the American Legion Post #141, Amvets Post #4, and VFW Post #1376. Richard’s greatest joy was spending time with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker all her life, taking care of and raising seven boys and one girl. She loved having large family gatherings and cooking delicious Filipino food.   • Lori Ann Scammahorn, age 52, of Centralia, Illinois, passed away at 12:46 P.M. on Sunday, January 21, 2018, at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in Saint Louis, Missouri. Mrs. Scammahorn enjoyed sitting and playing computer games on her tablet. She loved going out junking and yard sailing with her children. She cherished the time she spent with her family. She is being remembered as a loving mother and wife. Mrs. Scammahorn was formerly employed in the housekeeping department at Fireside House of Centralia. Earlier in life, she was employed in the laundry department at the Olney Rehabilitation Center and was a dishwasher and food preparer at the Olney Elks BPOE Lodge 926. She lived most of her life in Centralia, Illinois.
