  • William "Bill" Adell Heavener, age 82 of Mesa, Arizona and formerly of Salem, died Monday, April 23rd in Mesa. He was a retired English teacher with the U.S. Department of Defense. He attended Apple Ridge School in Marion County and was a graduate of Salem Community High School. He served in the United States Air Force from 1955 to 1959. After his service in the Air Force, he taught for six years in Windsor, Illinois. He taught students in Puerto Rico, Germany, Turkey, and Spain for the Department of Defense. He was an avid baseball fan and player, playing well into his retirement.

Trey owned and operated Midwest Muffler in Mount Vernon, Illinois. He was very proud to own his own business. Trey was a member of the Jefferson Lodge #368 A.F. & A.M. in Opdyke, Illinois. He loved life, family, and friends. He really enjoyed being outdoors and loved to hunt and fish. He had a passion for cars, motorcycles, and firearms and definitely had a need for speed. Trey was a man of conviction; he meant what he said and was very true and trustworthy. Everyone loved Trey and he will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mr. Hirsch retired from the U.S. Army after many years of service to his country. He served during the Vietnam War, where he received the Purple Heart. Robert worked in the deli at Kroger in Mount Vernon until his failing health. He loved spending time with his family, his kids, and grandchildren. He loved the Lord and was strong in his faith. Robert had an infectious smile and never met a stranger. He was a coach for the Benton wrestling program. Robert loved golfing, fishing, camping, and watching Bethel volleyball. He brought joy and laughter to everyone he met. Robert will be missed dearly by all who knew him.
