• Kenneth D. Karrick, Sr., 72, of Odin, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017, at his home. Kenneth was a Vietnam veteran that served in the US Army. He retired from the County Highway Department and belonged to the Antique Power Club. He had a true appreciation for the outdoors enjoying many hours hunting and fishing. His most cherished times were spent with his grandchildren and hiding in his shed.

  • John B. "Jack" Purcell, 88, of Salem, IL died October 18, 2017 at his home, in the loving care of his family. A 1959 graduate of St. Ambrose College in Davenport, Iowa, (BA), he was also a 1965 graduate of Chicago Teachers College with a Masters of Education. In 1974, he graduated from Loyola University-Chicago with his Education Doctorate. He retired as a principal from the Chicago Public School system in 1988. A veteran, he served in the United States Army from April 1951 until March of 1953. He was a faithful member of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church in Salem.

  • Howard W. Kleiboeker, 78, of Centralia, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at his home surrounded by his family. Howard served in the United States Army. He worked for Lear Siegler for 22 years, he then went to work for the Plumber Pipefitters Local 653 working there for 25 years until his retirement. Howard enjoyed getting up early for coffee and going to local restaurants. He enjoyed farming, tractors, horses and going to auctions. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Centralia. Most of all he loved spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Later, she made a career change, went back to school, and became a Licensed Practical Nurse in 2005.   • Thelma Joyce Hughey, age 73, passed away October 10, 2017. Thelma came to Tampa in 1985 from Mount Vernon. She was Catholic and earned her Master’s degrees in Math and History from the Southern Illinois University. She was a reading teacher for 49 years impacting thousands of students over her career. Thelma, along with her sister and brother-in-law, traveled extensively throughout the United States. Thelma was a HUGE St. Louis Cardinals Fan.

  • Robert "Bob" Lewis Kelly, Jr., 83, of Odin, passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at SSM St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. Bob had many passions in life. Anyone who knew him would never be surprised to see him seated on a lawn mower as this was one of his favored past times. Bob also had a faithful heart for Odin School. He was considered a fervent Odin Eagles supporter, always ready to encourage the team from his bleacher seat. When Bob wasn't cheering on his beloved Odin Eagles, he would be rooting on the Chicago Cubs. There will be an absence at Project Bread table where he faithfully enjoyed fellowship.

Mr. Protz served his country in the Korean Conflict in the Army Engineers. He was a member of the Palisade United Methodist Church. He enjoyed gardening, caring for his yard, and spending time with his loving family and all of his friends.
