Yanks beat O's

NEW YORK (AP) - CC Sabathia tossed a four-hitter as the Yankees topped Baltimore 3-1 and clinched the ALDS three-games-to-two.  Sabathia set down the first nine Orioles he faced, and was only in trouble in the eighth inning.  That's when  Baltimore scored it's only run on a Matt Wieters' single. The Orioles had the bases loaded with one out, but Sabathia escaped without further damage.

The Yankees starter struck out nine and walked two. It was Sabathia's first complete post-season game.

Baltimore starter Jason Hammel was perfect through four innings, but gave up a hit to lead off the fifth, when the Yankees scored on a Raul Ibanez RBI single. Ichiro Suzuzki added a run-scoring double in the sixth and Curtis Granderson homered in the seventh.

The Yankees advance to the ALCS to take on Detroit.  Game 1 is in Yankees Stadium Saturday night.

Doug Fister is expected to start for the Tigers against Andy Pettittee.
