Vince Young Heading Back to Texas

Michael Kovac/Wireimage(NEW YORK) -- Former University of Texas quarterback, Vince Young, is returning to school.

Young has been hired by his alma mater as part of the school's Division of Diversity and Community Engagement. He will take on the role of development officer for program alumni relations which helps raise money for programs that aid first-generation and low-income college students.

"Vince's passion for the educational success of young people and his experiences as a first-generation college graduate make him a perfect fit for this role," University of Texas vice president for the DDCE, Gregory J. Vincent said in a statement. "We are excited about the enthusiasm and skill set he is bringing to our team and look forward to working with Vince."

The 31-year-old Young retired from the NFL in June.

He's a legend at Texas, leading the school to a BCS national championship in 2005.

That season Young threw for 3,036 yards, 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. He also ran for 1,050 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Young will begin work on Sept. 1.
