Tigers Place Sanchez, Soria On 15-Day D-L
(DETROIT) -- The Detroit Tigers placed stating pitcher Anibal Sanchez and right-handed reliever Joakim Soria on the 15-day disabled list Sunday. Sanchez is dealing with a right pectoralis major strain while Soria is out with a left oblique strain.
Sanchez suffered the injury in the fifth inning during Friday night’s 5-4 win over the Toronto Blue Jays. In 21 starts this season, he is 8-5 with a 3.53 ERA.
Soria left Saturday’s game while warming up in the 10th inning. He is 2-4 on the season with a 3.58 ERA and 17 saves. The Tigers acquired the former closer in a trade with the Texas Rangers on July 23 for right-handed pitchers Jake Thompson and Corey Knebel.
