Tampa Bay Rays Pitcher Alex Cobb Hit By Line Drive
(ST. PETERSBURG, Fla.) -- Tampa Bay Rays right-hander Alex Cobb was carted off the field on a stretcher during Saturday’s game against Kansas City, after he was hit on the right ear by a line drive off the bat of Royals first baseman Eric Hosmer.
The 25-year-old Cobb was attended to immediately by trainers from both teams as well as medical personnel. According to the Rays, Cobb remained conscious during the incident. He was taking to Bayfront Medical Center in St. Petersburg, where he was diagnosed with a mild concussion.
“Can't thank everyone enough for the prayers,” Cobb tweeted Saturday night. “Was the only way for me to make it out of there ok. Look forward to getting back out there.”
