Sources: Mike Brown Close to Cleveland Reunion?
(CLEVELAND) -- Mike Brown could be headed back to Cleveland. After the Cavaliers fired head coach Byron Scott on Thursday, there is a lot of interest in Brown making a return, according to league sources.
Brown coached in Cleveland from 2008-2010, before being fired.
"We have not started that process," Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant said on Thursday. "We're looking for someone with proven success, looking for someone who has a strong defensive system, someone who is a teacher, grinder and a worker."
Brown coached the Cavaliers to back-to-back 60 win seasons before being let go. The Lakers let go of Brown this season and hired Mike D'Antoni.
Brown still has two years and more than $8 million left on his deal with the Lakers. He's previously said after his stint in Los Angeles, he would take time off to be with his family.
