San Francisco 49ers TE Delanie Walker Suffers Family Tragedy
(NEW ORLEANS) -- The aunt and uncle of San Francisco 49ers tight end Delanie Walker were killed in a two-car accident by an alleged drunk driver Monday morning.
Alice and Bryan Young had just finished watching their nephew play in Super Bowl XLVII and were driving back to their hotel in Baton Rouge, according to the Sacramento Bee.
Around 5:30 a.m, the Youngs were sitting in their car on the shoulder of Interstate 10 when a vehicle driven by Nechole Thomas, 26, allegedly struck them from behind, the New Orleans Times-Picayune reported. Thomas manage to escape before both vehicles burst into flames.
According to the Louisiana State Police, she was arrested on two counts of vehicular homicide, driving while intoxicated and reckless operation of a vehicle.
On Wednesday, Walker posted on his Twitter account, “Im going to miss y'all but i know they are in a better place.”
