Rutgers Suspends Lacrosse Coach

Andy Marlin/Getty Images(NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J.) -- Rutgers University has suspended their men's lacrosse coach as they look into allegations of verbal abuse.

The university announced that Brian Becht will continue to be paid while he is suspended.

"While I cannot comment on an ongoing investigation, let me reiterate that there is no place at Rutgers for words or actions that are inconsistent with the values of the university. Our student-athletes, as all members of the Rutgers community, should know that our university is committed to promoting an atmosphere of respect and dignity," Rutgers president Robert Barchi said.

In the wake of men's basketball coach Mike Rice being fired after videos surfaced of verbal and physical abuse, the university has been reviewing videos of all teams.

Brecht is in his second season at Rutgers after spending seven seasons at Siena College. The team is currently 2-11 overall.
