The Northern Ireland superstar, fresh off his triumph at the British Open, was five under par for his final 12 holes en route to a final round 3-under 68 to win the 96th PGA Championship at 16 under par. McIroy began his back nine on Sunday with an eagle-3 on the 10th hole to shoot a 32 on the back nine. It's McIlroy's second PGA title. He now owns four major titles.
McIlroy is only the fourth player in the last century of golf to win four majors at 25 or younger. The others were Tiger Woods, Jack Nicklaus and Bobby Jones, three of the game's greatest players. The last player to win back-to-back majors was Padraig Harrington in 2008.
Fan favorite Phil Mickleson finished second with a 5-under 66 to wind up 15 under par. Rickie Fowler and Henrik Stenson tied for third, two shots behind.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Phil Mickelson picked up a small consolation after his runner-up finish in the PGA Championship. He extended his American record by qualifying for his 10th consecutive Ryder Cup team.
The PGA Championship was the final qualifying event for nine Americans to make the team that will face Europe late next month in Scotland.
Mickelson was on the outside going into the week, not wanting for Tom Watson to spend one of his three captain's pick on him. He moved up to No. 5.
Masters champion Bubba Watson led the final points list. He was followed by Jim Furyk, Rickie Fowler, Jimmy Walker, Mickelson, Matt Kuchar, Jordan Spieth, Patrick Reed and Zach Johnson.
Jason Dufner fell out of the top nine.
