Red Wings Top Blackhawks For 2-1 Series Lead
(DETROIT) -- Gustav Nyquist and Drew Miller scored goals 31 seconds apart as the Detroit Red Wings beat the Chicago Blackhawks 3-1 on Monday night in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinal series.
Pavel Datsyuk added an insurance goal in the third period to help the Red Wings take a 2-1 lead in the best-of-seven series.
"They're a real good team and they're going to carry the play at times," Red Wings head coach Mike Babcock said. "We're a good team and we're going to carry the play at times."
The seventh-seeded Red Wings have scored six combined goals in Games 2 and 3 to beat the mighty Blackhawks for the second time in a row.
Patrick Kane scored a goal in the third period to get to within one goal, before Datsyuk put the game away a few moments later.
Game 4 is Thursday night in Detroit, when the Red Wings have a chance to put the Blackhawks on the brink of elimination with a victory.
