(NEW ORLEANS) -- The Baltimore Ravens are the champions of the NFL.

The Ravens defeated the San Francisco 49ers, 34-31 at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome to win Super Bowl XLVII.

The 49ers had a chance to take the lead with under five minutes to play and had first and goal at the five yard line, but were stuffed on every attempt including fourth down when Kaepernick's pass sailed past receiever Michael Crabtree.

The Ravens then ran out of the endzone for a safety to run some clock off with under a minute to play, and Ted Ginn was tackled returning the free kick to end the game.

Baltimore held a 28-6 lead in the third quarter, but saw almost all of it evaporate.

Play was delayed for 34 minutes with the Ravens up by 22 because of a power surge that knocked out a portion of power to the Superdome.

That's when the 49ers started making their comeback, going a 17-0 run to pull to within 28-23. Then, after Ravens field goal, San Francisco went on a 76-yard drive capped off by a 15-yard Colin Kaepernick touchdown run. However, they went for a two-point conversion and failed.

In the first half, the Flacco and the Ravens peppered the San Fracisco defense with deep passing. Flacco threw for 192 yards and three scores in the half, and got the scoring started by hitting Anquan Boldin on a 13-yard pass to go up 7-0.
